AI IN POLYMER RECYCLING INDUSTRY RUSE STUDENTS EXPLORING HOW

Admin

Our young trainees, students from University of Ruse "Angel Kanchev" continued with the industrial visits, this time to the polymer recycling industry in Veliko Tarnovo.

Except for being the historical and cultural capital of Bulgaria and one of the most beautiful towns in the country, Veliko Tarnovo harbors several large companies working in the field of processing industry. Students had a chance this time to learn at Megaport, Ltd.

During the visit to its largest factory, the students got to know how in this company, with the help of optical equipment and facilities for separation managed by artificial intelligence (AI), about 75% of all plastic waste can be recycled. Produced ecological re-granulates give new life to new ecological goods in their own production of sacks, bags, foils and others. Moreover, aiming at greener future in 2022, Megaport, Ltd installed a solar 🌞 power plant with capacity over 1500kW, which is roughly 10-15% of their total energy consumption. Thus, learning more about eco-materials, closing the technological cycle and achieving 100% utilization, students were inspired to think about innovative solutions that provide a higher quality of life and greener environment. Large investments and deep technology pays off in this case, contributing to substantial reduction of plastics in landfills and giving them new life. 👍
